HARMONY SINGERS

We are delighted that the Harmony Singers will be supporting Carers Trust North Wales this year as one of their chosen charities. Over the summer months they have been performing every Monday night at 8 pm at St John's Methodist Church, Mostyn Street, Llandudno. (Admission is £8). Their final performance this year will be on 23 September 2024. A huge thank you to the whole choir from us all at Carers Trust North Wales!

CEO Alison Jones was delighted last week to attend a Reception at No 10 Downing Street held by the Rt Hon Michelle Donelan MP, Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Techology, and the Rt Hon Victoria Atkins MP, Secretary of State for Health and Social Care. The Reception was convened to support the next steps for the Dame Barbara Windsor Dementia Mission which was first launched by the UK government in August 2022, in honour of Dame Barbara and the millions of other people and their loved ones who have had their lives impacted by Dementia. Amser (Welsh Government funding co-ordinated by Carers Trust Wales) supports unpaid carers living in Wales to access personalised, flexible and creative short breaks. It will provide breaks that improve carer resilience and wellbeing and that support the sustainability of the carer's caring relationship. Through Amser Carers Trust North Wales is delivering short break opportunities to unpaid carers in Anglesey, Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire, Gwynedd and Wrexham. To show huge appreciation to all our Volunteers at Carers Trust North Wales, we'll be holding an event highlighting the work of our volunteers on Tuesday 6 June 2023 at our Centre in Quinton Hazell Enterprise Park, Glan y Wern Road, Mochdre, LL28 5BS, from 1-2 pm. CARERS SUPPORT FUND

We are delighted to announce additional support that unpaid carers across Wales can now access. The Carers Support Fund (funded by WG) will provide services and grant funding to support unpaid carers who are experiencing financial hardship due to the cost of living crisis and the ongoing impact of the pandemic. Through this funding we at Carers Trust North Wales can offer direct grants to carers across North Wales (Anglesey, Gwynedd, Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire and Wrexham) to help with food shopping, IT equipment, white goods, and other items. CALLING ON ALL UNPAID CARERS TO TAKE A SURVEY ON WHAT SUPPORT YOU NEED IN YOUR CARING ROLE

Carers Trust has launched a survey of unpaid adult carers to find out what support unpaid carers need from government. The survey also asks how social care reform could support carers more effectivey. The findings of the survey will help inform a Carers Trust compaign to improve the future support available to carers from the government. Please spread the word with any unpaid carers you know to make sure as many unpaid carers as possible take the survey. The survey is live and will run up to Sunday 21 August.

We are thrilled that our Dementia Support Service team has been selected for the Best Dementia Team category in the National Dementia Care Awards 2020. This is such fantastic news as it means that the Service has been a finalist in these prestigious awards two years running. The National Dementia Care Awards is an annual event organised by The Journal of Dementia Care, a multidisciplinary journal for all professional staff working with people with dementia, in hospitals, nursing and residential care homes, day units and the community. The awards were created to recognise the very best people in the dementia care sector, whose exceptional work and contributions make better, person-centred care a reality. #DementiaCareAwards The Leader
